Hamilton Green Opportunity

Council is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from not-for-profit organisations interested in constructing a building that will provide benefits to the community on land at Hamilton Green known as parcel "E".

Hamilton Green is a reserve located on Hastings River Drive, Port Macquarie. The Green provides a home for many local community organisations including IDAFE Disability Services, Port Macquarie Arts Society, Lions Club of Port Macquarie, Radio Rhema, Hastings Sporting Club for the Disabled, Port Macquarie Bridge Club and the new Rotary Community Centre.

Parcel "E" is located in the south-eastern corner of the reserve and comprises an area of approximately 280 square metres. Council is seeking expressions of interest from community organisations that have the capacity to build and maintain their own building.

The successful applicant will have a two-year hold placed on the lot to allow them to obtain planning approvals and raise funds for the construction of a new building.

The assessment criteria is centred on the ability of the applicant to provide a building that facilitates the provision activities that are aligned with the Port Macquarie-Hastings Social Plan 2005-2010.

Council's Director of Community and Cultural Development, Ms Lesley Atkinson said, "Council is committed to a fair, open and transparent process in relation to the allocation of land for community groups to construct their own facilities and given the scarcity of such land Council is looking forward to receiving a number of quality expressions of interest."

All interested groups are encouraged to download a copy of the expression of interest from www.tenderlink.com/pmhc where they will be required to register in order to download the documents.

Expressions of interest close on Thursday, 17th December 2009. For further information regarding the expression of interest process please call Council's Community Facilities Coordinator, Steve Lawrence on 6581 8111.
