Stewart Street, Port Macquarie
Gaol Point is a lookout area situated on the headland with views of the river-mouth, harbour and Town Beach. It was so named because of its proximity to the site of the brick gaol built from 1837 until 1840 by convicts. Two cannons still guard the river entrance.
