Greater Port Macquarie - What's On
2012 X-Blades National Touch Football Youth Championships
Touch Football Australia is pleased to announce that the 2012 X-Blades National Youth Championships will be held in Port Macquarie. The venue for the event will be the Port Macquarie Regional Stadium and Tuffins Lane Precinct. This event will see more than 1,000 players, support personnel, family and friends visiting the area for the competition.
The 2012 X-Blades National Youth Championships will run from Wednesday 19th - Saturday 22nd September, 2012 inclusive, with two divisions (18's Boys and 18's Girls) being run concurrently over the four day period.
This ongoing event has proven to be a highlight for the youth of Australia. It combines teams from all over Australia at a tournament that offers all who attend the opportunity to be identified for future Australian representation.
The National Youth Championships is a unique event on the Australian Sporting Calendar. Touch Football is one of the few sports that School Sport Australia and the National Sporting Organisation have been able to provide a combined event.
This event will see approximately 30 teams converging on the Greater Port Macquarie Region for the four day event from New Zealand and Australian regions in QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, TAS, SA, WA and NT.
The 2012 NYC will be held in conjunction with the 2012 State of Origin (SOO). It is anticipated that the 2012 SOO will be held from Friday, 21 to Saturday, 22 September 2012. It is very exciting to link the two prestigious events and what hopefully will be a successful festival of Touch Football which will showcase the very best of youth, open and senior athletes.

Notes: The Port Macquarie Regional Sports Stadium is the premier sports facility in the Hastings.
The playing surface is considered by many to be the number one rugby league facility on the NSW North Coast. It boasts a newly constructed 1,000 seat grandstand which has transformed the area from a playing field to a genuine high-quality sports stadium.
Rugby league is the predominant sport played at this location, however, rugby union and soccer fixtures, at the elite level, have been played there.
