Greater Port Macquarie - What's On
150th Anniversary of NSW Policing
The NSW Police Force will celebrate 150 years of proud policing traditions in 2012. The Force has had an influential role in shaping of the state of NSW and the 150th anniversary is as significant to the community as it is to the NSW Police Force.
A combined 150th Anniversary celebration incorporating the Mid North Coast and Manning Great Lakes NSW Police, participating in a number of local and regional events to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of Policing in NSW.
The celebrations will begin at 10.30am with a Sea of Blue March of 30 or more police officers, including a flag party and escort, travelling along Horton Street to Port Macquarie Town Green. Current and retired police officers will march, recognising their contributions of one and half centuries of policing. This will be followed by a medial presentation to police and civilians and a speech by Commissioner Scipione.
The Glasshouse will house a static display of historical photographs and other items of interest.
This historical visual display will be contrasted against a display of current policing resources such as command vehicles, the RBT bus, HWP sedans and cycles. Don't miss the Water Police in action at 1.30pm at Lady Nelson Wharf.
To coincide with the upcoming events, the NSW Police Force has launched its official Flickr site, giving the public the chance to view and comment on historic police photos. The Force's Flickr site can be accessed at http://www.flickr.com/photos/60610599@N04/
