Swim Course Description:
The 1.9km swim begins at the boat ramp area in Westport Park and is a deep-water mass start. Heading north approximately 750m towards Settlement Point completing a triangular turn then heading back in a clockwise direction to just past the Marina to the finish chute exit beside the boat ramp in Westport Park. SWIM CHECK-IN: - 4.45am to 6.15am in Registration Marquee for Individuals and in the Teams Transition Marquee for Teams. BLUE SEVENTY 1.9KM SWIM - 1-LAP COURSE
Bike Course Description:
The bike course has one very challenging hill, up Matthew Flinders Drive which athletes will face 2 times on the return trip. The undulating two lap course incorporates the City Centre and will provide excellent viewing for spectators. Starting at Westport Park, onto Buller Street and proceeding south over the Buller Street Bridge, onto Clarence Street. Following Clarence Street through the heart of town veering right onto William Street which then turns into the beautiful Pacific Drive. The course then undulates to Lighthouse Road proceeding to Davis Crescent and then down the steep section on Matthew Flinders Drive, along the coastline to the Ocean Drive roundabout. Approximately 22kms to the turnaround point just through the township of Lake Cathie to Middlerock Road. The course then tracks back to Port Macquarie facing the tough but short hill section of Matthew Flinders Drive. TREK 90.1 KM CYCLE - 2-LAP COURSE.
Run Course Description:
The half marathon takes athletes along the Hastings River foreshores through the City Centre and along beside the beaches and parts of Pacific Drive, which combines rolling hills with beautiful scenery to provide excellent viewing for both athletes and spectators. There maybe runners running beside cyclists as some of this course follows the same route as the bike course. The run heads to the top of Oxley Beach, Flagstaff Hill veering off Pacific Drive onto the grass area and across to Town Beach, along the Breakwall and back to Westport Park. Notes:
Located on the corner of Buller and Parks Streets, Westport Park commands extensive views of the Hastings River. The park is a highly utilised area of open space that forms an intrinsic link between Settlement Point shopping centre and the Port Macquarie CBD.
Westport Park is the designated area in Port Macquarie for commercial events. Permitted use include events such as circuses, carnivals, shows and promotions. The park is also a popular venue for community/sporting activities and has hosted events such as Ironman, NSW Fire Fighters State Championships and the annual Christmas carnival.
