The 2009 Holiday Coast Credit Union Tastings of the Hastings, one of the region's premier food and wine events, will this year be held at the Port Macquarie Race Course on Sunday, October 25
Annually more than 5000 patrons converge on this vibrant event to enjoy the fine food, fresh produce, wines, beer and entertainment in a picturesque setting easily reached from the Port Macquarie city centre. The Port Macquarie Racecourse is a perfect setting for this day of relaxation, fine food, and good friends. A large undercover betting ring, an adjacent sprawling bar and the soft lawns lining the entrance walkways are the perfect placement for more than 60 local food producers and a diverse range of the region's leading restaurants, cafes, wineries and boutique brewery to display their scrumptious wares.
Highlights include the Country Energy Cooking Demonstration Arena featuring leading local chefs and this year's star turn, Australian Country Style Food Editor, Barbara Sweeney.
Children's entertainment, patron prizes, the Great Waiter Race and some fine entertainment sponsored by Port Central will set toes tapping and others dancing beneath the marquees on the sprawling lawns of this great location.
