Demographics

Approximately 10% of our population are thought to be lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered (GLBT) however there are many GLBTs who do not tell people of their sexuality because they fear discrimination, so the true numbers are not known.

For more demographic information about our community please visit our Community Profile & Demographic Databases pages or visit the Australian Bureau of Statistics website.

For geographical information please visit our Introduction to Hastings page.

Social Plan 2005-2010: Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual and Transgender People

The Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Social Plan assists Council, local service providers and relevant government departments in planning for facilities and services across the region.  Within the Social Plan, the Download 89-93_Pages_from_Social_Plan_29-3-06-12.pdf Target Group Plan for GLBTs (209KB) identifies the current and future needs for more effective planning of social and community service needs.

You can also access the complete Social Plan 2005-2010.
