Tour the Port Macquarie-Hastings Water TrailDam Tour

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council conducts FREE tours of the Hastings water supply network.

Since the completion of the Cowarra Off-Creek Storage Dam in 2001, more than 7000 residents, schools and community groups have enjoyed free guided tours of the state-of-the-art facility.

Council has broaden the tours to include stops at the $25 million Wauchope water treatment plant and the reclaimed water treatment plant in Port Macquarie.

Both facilities will become a part of Council's on-going WaterWise education program with public viewing areas, a lecture theatre and tours for the use of local school and community groups.

The free 'water trail' tours begin in the morning with a screening of a DVD presentation on the Port Macquarie-Hastings Water Supply at the Senior Citizens Centre in Munster Street.

The new tour incorporates a visit to the Koree Island pumping facility, Wauchope water treatment plant and reservoirs, Cowarra Dam and picnic area, the Port Macquarie reclaimed water treatment plant in Hindman Street and Port Macquarie Dam.

Tours are run at specific times of the year. Contact Council on 6581 8111 for more information.
