Addressing a Council Meeting in relation to an agenda item
Council's Ordinary Council Meeting is generally held on the fourth Wednesday of each month, unless advertised otherwise.
Council permits two speakers 'for' and two speakers 'against' any one agenda item. Each speaker has five minutes in which to address the meeting. Council then has the opportunity to ask questions after each address is completed.
Once the agenda item has been debated and a decision reached, the speaker is free to leave the chambers quietly.
If you wish to speak on an agenda item of the Ordinary Council Meeting, you must apply to address that meeting no later than 4.30pm on the day prior to the meeting day by either:
- Completing the Request to Speak at Ordinary Council Meeting Form in person, available at Council's offices
- Telephoning the request by calling 6581 8111
- Faxing the request form to 6581 8123, or
- Completing the Request to Speak at Ordinary Council Meeting Form online below.
