Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's Customer Care Program has been selected as one of the top 3 finalists in the Business Enterprise category of the NSW/ACT Regional Achievement & Community Awards.
The awards which are sponsored by Department of State and Regional Development, are for businesses in regional areas who are forming networks, working groups or partnerships to boost their competitiveness in an increasingly complex business environment.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's Economic Development Manager, Trevor Sargeant said, "It is a great achievement for our Council to be in the top three out of more than 350 nominations."
"The Customer Care Program is a joint venture between Council and local business organisations including the Chambers of Commerce from Port Macquarie, Wauchope and the Camden Haven and is an example of local businesses sharing knowledge and resources to achieve outcomes beyond their individual capabilities, Mr Sargeant said.
The 2007 Winner for the categories of Business Enterprise Award; Events and Tourism Award; Regional Service Award; Environment and Landcare Award; and Community of the Year Award will be announced at a presentation dinner in Newcastle on Saturday, 10 November 2007.
