Business Capital of the Mid North Coast

Port Macquarie-Hastings region is an area perfectly located midway along the New South Wales Mid North Coast, only 260km north of Newcastle, 420km from Sydney and 510km from Brisbane.

Port Macquarie, at the mouth of the Hastings River, is the focal point of the region and thanks to its many magnificent beaches, lush hinterland and moderate climate, is famous as a holiday destination.

Port Macquarie's popularity is not new. As well as being a thriving centre of tourism for many years, Port Macquarie is a mature, long-established community with regional centre status. This status comes from its broadly based public and private business sectors coupled with a dynamic retail and commercial district.

The Port Macquarie-Hastings local government area has a number of small villages and the three main townships of Port Macquarie, Wauchope and Laurieton. The total population exceeds 70,000 with more than half living in the Port Macquarie precinct. The largest population group fall into the 25-44 age group, followed by the 45-64 and then the 10-24 group.

Holidays are only one reason people come to Port Macquarie-Hastings from all over the eastern states of Australia. Large numbers are also recognising the excellent lifestyle and business opportunities.

As a clean, green, friendly, temperate place to do business and make your home, it's hard to find a region which compares to the Hastings.
