Each year, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is required to produce a State of the Environment Report on the Local Government Area. The year after a Council election a comprehensive report must be produced and each intervening year an update report is compiled. Reports must address the key areas of land, water, air, noise, waste, heritage and biodiversity.
Reports produced by Council are based upon the 'pressure-state-response' model. This model allows for the logical and unbiased analysis and reporting of environmental issues based on available information.
State of the Environment Reports are an important tool for monitoring the condition of the environment, evaluating the effectiveness of responses to environmental issues and prioritising Council expenditure and action for the environment.
