Write messages of support for victorian bushfire victims
Thursday, 19 February 2009
On the eve of the National Day of Mourning for the Victorian Bushfire victims, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has produced a number of 'Message of Support' books for people to sign.
General Manager, Andrew Roach said, "We have produced the books to give members of the local community the opportunity to write messages of support to the thousands of people affected by the devastating bushfires.
"So many people have given money and clothing to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal which is fantastic, but we thought people might like to take a couple of minutes to write a few words of support.
"The books are located at Council's offices and libraries in Port Macquarie, Laurieton and Wauchope," Mr Roach said.
"I encourage anyone in our community to continue showing the people of Victoria that we still care and are thinking of them during this very difficult time.
"When completed, the books will be sent to the Victorian Premier's Department," Mr Roach said.
