Community Survey 2008
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council sought to examine community attitudes and satisfaction with a broad range of issues that will assist with the development of Council's future plans.
Council wished to better understand:
- Customer expectations
- Customer perceptions of their service experience
- The importance customers attach to specific Council services
- Customer satisfaction level with Council services
600 telephone surveys of local residents conducted (evenings) November/December 2008.
Participants were 18 years or older and had lived in the area for a minimum of 6 months. The sample closely reflected our local population.
The community demonstrated:-
- Strong appreciation of our region and the lifestyle afforded.
- Moderate levels of satisfaction with Council's performance overall
- Stronger levels of satisfaction with individual service delivery
Identified priority areas for improvement were as follows:
- Maintenance of sealed roads
- Car parking
- Providing value for the ratepayers' dollars
- Footpaths and cycleways
- Residents' involvement in Council's decision making
- Long-term planning and vision
- Informing residents about Council activities
- Providing strong community leadership
- Encouraging industry and business
- Quality of town centre and public spaces
- Regulating traffic flow
- An adequate stormwater drainage system
