Council encourages concerns about pollution to be raised with the person causing the pollution, if known.

Pollution can be reported to Hastings Council on 6581 8111. Pollution reports are treated as confidential.

Where the pollution relates to an activity controlled by the Environment Protection Authority, this pollution can be reported to the Environmental Protection Authority Pollution Line on 131 555 (local call cost throughout NSW).

Duty to report

Polluters must report certain pollution incidents to the appropriate regulatory authority. These are pollution incidents causing or threatening material harm to the environment. Emergencies

If adequate resources are not available to contain material released in a pollution incident, and if it threatens public health, property or the environment, the NSW Fire Brigades should be contacted for emergency assistance, phone 000.
