2009 - 2011 Move, Eat and Live Well Program Evaluation
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council received $80,000 funding (over a two-year period) through the Healthy Communities Scheme from NSW Health and the Local Government & Shires Association.
The funding was used to conduct the Move, Eat & Live Well Program. This Program involved a range of healthy activities that addressed healthy weight management in the community and falls prevention for older people.
The Program provided a range of benefits to the community through Heartmoves, Circus Sport for young people, exercise equipment for Non-Council Owned Halls and specific programs in partnership with the Birpai and Bunyah Local Aboriginal Lands Councils.
Council acknowledges the funding from the Local Government Shires Association and NSW Health which has made this innovative program possible. We would also like to acknowledge the support of the Laurieton Club, The Westport Club and Wauchope RSL in providing free venues for the activities. These partnerships will strengthen our community and the outcomes of the program.
