Major Road Works Underway
Thursday, 24 June 2010
Major works will continue on a number of roads in the Port Macquarie area which will impact on residents and motorists.
From this Sunday, a temporary roundabout will be in place on the Oxley Highway and The Ruins Way intersection to allow for the closure and major realignment of Major Innes Road.
In conjunction with the closure of Major Innes Road, a traffic detour will be available via The Ruins Way for motorists attending St. Columba Anglician School and the Innes Lake residential area. Major Innes Road between Forest Grove and Braeroy Drive will be closed to through traffic for a three month period.
The closure will enable the next stage of works to commence which involves the replacement of the road pavement, including kerb and guttering and footpaths, commencing at the southern end near Braeroy Drive.
Additional road works will commence on Monday morning at the William Street and Owen Street intersection.
Asphalt resurfacing will be carried out at that intersection subject to weather conditions. Motorists are requested to avoid parking in that area to allow for construction equipment to set up to ensure the project is completed as quickly as possible.
Warning signs have already been installed and residents have been notified of the works.
Council appreciates the support and patience of the community for these projects.
