Maccas recommended for refusal

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's Development Assessment Panel this afternoon decided to recommend to Council that an application for a 116 seat McDonalds Restaurant on the corner of Greenmeadows Drive and Ocean Drive in Port Macquarie be refused.
The Panel recommended refusal of the application on the grounds the restaurant would have significant adverse physical, visual and amenity impacts within the existing locality and was inconsistent with the Draft Port Macquarie-Hastings Local Environmental Plan.
Council's Director of Development and Environment Services, Matt Rogers said, "Under planning legislation, the Panel was requested to review its earlier decision to refuse the application and has recommended to Council that the original decision be upheld.
"The issue has been listed for discussion at the July Council meeting where the ultimate decision to either approve or refuse the application will be determined by the Administrator", Mr Rogers said.
