The Parking Policy

The Parking Policy is an overarching strategic policy document, which sets out how parking management in the Council LGA  should progress over the short to longer term. It has been developed taking account of current transport policy, community feedback and related policy agendas. It is generally non-area prescriptive except where additional guidance is deemed necessary.

The Policy will provide the framework for effective parking management, which supports the Council's strategic objectives for integrated land use and transport planning, maintenance of environmental and amenity values, social inclusion, economic prosperity and regeneration which are all important elements of sustainable development.

The Parking Strategy

The methodology adopted for the development of the strategy involved the documentation of key steps in the form of a series of working papers, that document the relevant research, analyse the current parking supply and demand and summarise the community participation process and outcomes as follows;

  • Working Paper 1 - Strategy Background
  • Working Paper 2 - State of Play
  • Working Paper 3 - Current Parking Supply & Demand
  • Working Paper 4 - Participation and Communication
  • Working Paper 5 - Community Workshop - Port Macquarie
  • Working Paper 6 - Community Workshop - Wauchope
  • Working Paper 7 - Community Workshop - Camden Haven
  • Working Paper 8 - Strategy Options

The working papers "underpinned" the Strategy and have shown to be very valuable resource documents.
It is to be noted the Strategy will be subject to ongoing review and amendments to ensure it is aligned with Council, State and Regional initiatives, for the planning and provision of parking facilities and services.
