There are industries that are particularly important to the Port Macquarie-Hastings area, offering high development potential. These have been identified by comparing the performance of 109 industry sectors against their NSW equivalents based on sector competitiveness, value added potential, existing infrastructure and the availability of a sustainable resource. Industry planning currently underway includes: |

TERTIARY EDUCATION - Meeting the Federal Governments target of 25-34 year olds with a Bachelor Degree or above to 40% by 2025 is the target of this industry plan. |

FORESTS - The forests and forest products industry has been identified by Council as a primary economic priority, employing more than 370 persons. |

TRANSPORT & LOGISTICS - Council is commencing an industry development plan for the Sancrox Employment Precinct in association with the developers, of which the transport and logistics sector is likely to play a major part. This plan is listed as a high priority in the Economic Development section's activities. |

AIRPORT BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - The Port Macquarie Airport has developed to the point where it has built a competitive position in the Mid North Coast air services market. Council believes that by increasing the level of business activity associated with the airport, the economy will be further diversified. |

CUSTOMER CARE - A highly sought after Customer Service Program which is demonstrably successful in elevating service standards in the area, thereby improving economic activity. |

JOURNEY OF FLAVOUR - Created as part of the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Industry Development Program, the Journey of Flavour brand is a joint initiative between Council and the Food, Wine and Tourism industry. |
