Kooloonbung Creek Plan of Management

Port Macquarie Hastings-Council is developing a Plan of Management for Kooloonbung Creek Nature Reserve. The previous plan was never formally adopted by the Minister for Lands and is now outdated.

What will the Plan of Management Cover?

 The plan will consider six main themes of the nature reserve;

  •  Flying foxes
  •  Bush regeneration / urban weed invasion
  •  Recreational values - boardwalk, open space
  •  Educational values - arboretum, interpretive signage
  •  Aboriginal and European-Heritage - historic cemetery, aboriginal significance
  •  Bushfire and Ecological burns

How will the Plan of Management be developed?

Council has been successful in gaining funding for a consultant to complete the scientific study elements of the plan preparation. The consultant is working with Council's Natural Resources staff on the Plan Development which is expected to be completed around April 2012.
