Tourism Ambassadors Program
The Tourism Ambassadors program has been recognised as one of the highest quality, cost effective programs that Council has convened in recent years. This group of passionate, enthusiastic volunteers have given more than 500 hours of their time this year alone in assisting visitors, handing out information and being a welcoming local face at the Visitor Information Centre in the Glasshouse.
The aim of the program when it commenced six years ago, was to appoint a team of passionate, professional people who love the Greater Port Macquarie region and who want to promote it to visitors and locals. Currently there are 18 volunteers in the program who work primarily in the school and public holidays and are on call for major events such as Ironman and touch football.
The program is a fantastic example of the success of volunteers who love what they do and are passionate about sharing their interest. For information about joining the Tourism Ambassadors Program contact the Visitor Information Centre at the Glasshouse on 6581 8000 or Peter Goodwin on 6582 1102.
