Ironman spectator hotspot pack giveaway
With only days to go before the 2012 Urban Hotel Group Ironman Australia Triathlon attention for locals is now turning to where to view the race on Sunday.
Thousands who have signed up as volunteers for the May 6 event will get a ringside seat, but for after the shift or for those not volunteering it is important to plan where to watch the race.
People whose houses and streets adjoin the bike or run course have a fantastic opportunity to sit back relax and watch world class sport on their doorstep. If you are planning to have friends over, maybe a BBQ on the balcony or street party, event organisers want to hear from you.
World Triathlon Corporation and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council have put together spectator packs to give away to the first 20 people who register their spectator hotspot on Council's facebook page.
Simply like the Council page at www.facebook.com/pmhc2444 and post where you and your friends will gather to watch the race for your chance to win. Then throughout the day you can post photos and updates of your Ironman experience.
The spectator hotspot packs will contain the Official Urban Hotel Group Ironman Australia program so you can keep track of the action, along with clapper sticks, sunscreen and other goodies sure to enhance your spectator experience.
Of course the place to be later in the day is the finish line on Town Green where you can grab a spot in the grandstand and cheer home some of the 1,500 athletes as they complete the gruelling Ironman Course and cross the finish line.
There are plenty of other ways to soak up the Ironman atmosphere over the next couple of days. The public are invited to the official event Expo, starting Thursday 3 May and running until Saturday, 5 May at the Glasshouse.
Anyone with an interest in health and fitness will enjoy the huge range of demonstrations and goods for sale throughout the building. Once the motivation kicks in maybe sign up for the 5km Fun Run through the CBD on Saturday morning.
