2012 Community Grants Program - applications accepted from July
Local community groups and organisations can soon gain a share of more than $160,000 with online submissions for the 2012 Community Grants Program being accepted from early July.
Port Macquarie Hastings Council Director of Community and Cultural Development Lesley Atkinson said the Community Grants Program provided funding support to community groups and organisations in their endeavours to establish, strengthen and/or implement projects, which would benefit Hastings residents.
"Council recognises the importance of assisting non-profit community groups and organisations that are interested in, and working towards the enhancement and well-being of its residents, Ms Atkinson said.
"The program is aimed at local, not-for-profit, incorporated organisations who have an Australian Business Number and are conducting projects to enhance the quality of life in the local area."
Ms Atkinson said approximately $160,000 will be made available in 2012/13, which includes allocation for general grants of up to $10,000. A minimum of $20,000 will be allocated to the nine non council owned halls in the local government area, while a further $20,000 has been allocated through the Environment Levy to complete restoration works on public land.
"Applications will also be taken for grants of up to $5,000 to assist with Christmas and New Years Eve community events that promote celebration and help connect our community," Ms Atkinson said.
Submissions for the program will be accepted from early July and close 31 August 2012.
More information on the Community Grants program will be announced in early June. For further enquiries contact Council's Customer Call Centre on 6581 8111.
