Decision on John Oxley Drive Structure Plan deferred
A decision to adopt the John Oxley Drive Precinct Draft Structure Plan was deferred at last night's Council meeting.
The rurally zoned precinct bounded by John Oxley Drive, Philip Charley Drive, Oxley Highway and Wrights Road, Port Macquarie, was identified for investigation in Council's Adopted Urban Growth Management Strategy in 2011 for further residential opportunities and potential commercial and retail opportunities.
Director Development and Environmental Services Matt Rogers said a Structure Plan, has been created to provide a framework for future infrastructure and planning decision in the area.
"The redevelopment of the Oxley Highway north of the precinct created opportunities for Council to work with the community to plan for future development and infrastructure decisions in the area," Mr Rogers said.
Administrator Neil Porter decided to defer the decision, directing Council to gather an updated traffic count report and to undertake further community consultation with residents on the issue of road widening.
