Draft Social Strategy 2012-2015 on public exhibition

Council will place the draft Social Strategy 2012-2015 on public exhibition for 28 days.  The Social Strategy has been developed to improve the well being and quality of life in the local  community.

Director Community and Cultural Development, Lesley Atkinson said the draft Social Strategy will assist Council, local service providers and government departments in their planning of facilities and services in our LGA.

"This important Strategy provides an overview of the current and future needs of the area's population. It will help facilitate more effective and integrated planning for a wide range of social and community service needs," Ms Atkinson said.

"The document focuses on social strategies that aim to address education and employment opportunities, provide a framework that will support and encourage community participation and social cohesion, create a healthier and more connected community and improve housing and transport systems within our area.

The draft Social Strategy Strategy 2012-2015 will be on public exhibition from early July and available to download from Councils website.
