Credit Card Merchant Service Fees

Payments using this Internet facility can only be made using credit cards (Visa, MasterCard and Bankcard only).  All credit card transactions attract a fee called a "Merchant Service Fee" (MSF).  The credit card companies charge this fee as a percentage of the payment amount.  Due to changes in Government legislation organisations including Councils are now able to pass the cost of accepting credit cards to the consumer at the time of payment. 

Therefore if you choose to use this online payment facility a Credit Card Surcharge of 0.153% of the total amount paid will be debited against your credit card in addition to the amount you select to pay off your rates and water account(s). 

Please refer to the following examples if you would like an indication of what Merchant Service Fees will be applicable to your transaction. 

  • If you were to pay $100.00 the Credit Card Surcharge fee would be $0.15 and the total amount debited against your credit card will be $100.15.
  • If you were to pay $200.00 the Credit Card Surcharge fee would be $0.31 and the total amount debited against your credit card will be $200.31. 
  • If you were to pay $500.00 the Credit Card Surcharge fee would be $0.77 and the total amount debited against your credit card will be $500.77. 
  • If you were to pay $1,000.00 the Credit Card Surcharge fee would be $1.53 and the total amount debited against your credit card will be $1,001.53.
