Proposed Upgrade

Council is currently planning a major upgrade of the Airport to underpin the region's economic development and tourism potential.

The project, which includes upgrades to the airside (runway, taxiway and RPT apron) infrastructure, terminal building and car parking facilities is designed to cater for a wider range of competitive air services including the introduction of Code 4C medium jet aircraft such as the 180-seat Boeing B737-800 and Airbus A320 series aircraft.

The project is supported by funding from the Australian Government.

Airport Funding

Port Macquarie Airport is established as a separate business unit within Council.  Day-to-day operations and capital infrastructure improvements are funded solely by airport operations on a 'user pays' basis, and as such the Airport does not receive funding via rate contributions to Council.
